Each sleeve features an elastic and button closure, though it doesn't have to be closed to use. It also has a front slip pocket with a snap closure, which can fit another book, small notebook, pens, glasses, depending on how large your book is. The cotton is stabilized with fleece to give it structure and hold its shape.

I have fit very large hardback books in this size (i.e. Harry Potter, Game of Thrones), multiple paperback books at once, and have been told they can even fit Bibles. The elastic closure may be tight with a super large book. It could also work to store a tablet, however, it is not as padded as my electronic sleeves.
